This is the first time visiting your blog. Your creations are gorgeous!

I don't think I have any good holiday shopping stories to tell. Can I share some insight instead? I had two daughters who passed away 10 years ago. Every year since then I've chosen an angel off the angel tree and bought something for another little girl who would be my daughters' age (my daughters were part of a set of triplets so they were the same age). I did find out that even though you pick an angel off the tree for Salvation Army and shop "for that child" it doesn't necessarily GO to that child. All the gifts go in a warehouse and then everyone walks through and chooses what they want. When I found that out I was upset. Since then I've found some smaller nonprofits that allow you to buy for a particular child.

ps...come visit me this weekend...I'll be doing blog candy of my own!

Wow, you have a wonderful blog. I think all Christmas shopping can be wonderful and a nightmare at the same time, esp. when you doing it with kids along with you.

Congrats on 10K! Love your style and creative artwork! Wow I remember those days with kids wanting to do anything, but want you needed to do. Here's a story about Christmas Eve...My DH always loved going shopping really early on Christmas Eve at Walmart to get the last minute stuff. Well one year he decided to be sick...so guess who got to do it? ME, that's right. It was a nightmare!!
Bumper to bumper carts and couldn't hardly move it and then that DH would call and want something else...of course on the OTHER side of the store. I was so MAD and TIRED by the time it was all over. I told him I would NEVER EVER do this again. I have lived up to my word to this day and planning on living up to it.
Thanks for a chance at this sweet SU candy! I just LOVE LOVE LOVE SU!

My biggest holiday nightmare shopping experience was in 2004. I decided to brave the Black Friday sales for the first time ever. I arrived at the popular electronics store at 5 am to get the newest gaming system for my DH. It was 28 degrees and everyone in line ahead of me was grouchy. Someone tried to sing christmas carols and got told to shut it! After 2 hours I make it inside, get my sysytem and settle into the purchase line. Mayhem had broken out over a misprint about a t.v. in the add. The popular systems were running out and people were panicing. Bartering began and children were crying. Some lady even used her kid to try and get ahead in line. She got her kid to cry so hystricaly that people were letting her go in front of them just to get her out of the store. Then the credit card machines went down. I got out of the store at 8am with one item!!!!!!!!!! Never again no matter what.
Thanks for the chance on the SU candy, and happy holidays.

I stood in line a couple of years back at Target at 5am but apparently I had to show up at 3am to get what I came for so I left and went to a different store where I was reaching for the portable DVD player I wanted, only to have a lady with a cane hit me in the back of the leg and tell me that the DVD player was hers. Needless to say that old lady did NOT get the DVD player and my husband was a happy camper on Christmas morning.

I just love your blog...congrats on hitting the big number. I can't believe you can do all this stamping with 3 small ones at home.

How about an embarrassing Christmas shopping experience? Being on the perpetual diet, I was out Christmas shopping and stopped at the local cafeteria for a cup of coffee. I was not going to have a snack, willpower would prevail. As I sat sipping my coffee, there was a man sitting near by with 2 powdered sugar donuts on his plate. They sure looked good, but I was going to be strong. He ate one, then left the other on his plate. You guessed it. I jumped up and ate the whole thing, just as he came back with his coffee refill!!! I had powdered sugar all over my clothes, so couldn't hide. I was so embarrassed that was the end of my shopping that day.

I'm not sure if this counts, but a few years back I worked at a major craft chain store part time for the holidays (does a M come into mind?) and while I was ringing out some of the holiday shoppers the lines started getting longer. I heard 2 men start to argue with each other in line. Apparently one woman and her husband and cut in front of them in the line. The two guys actually started fist fighting with each other over it...

don't you just LOVE the holidays!

Congrats on the hits! The most comical shopping experience during the holidays...shopping for hours and trying to keep my putchases even - I have three very competitive girls - and when I got home and reviewed everything - I only really bought for one daughter!!

Hi Sarah, Congratulations on your blog hits, your creations are amazing and inspiring xxx

About 14 years ago (before kiddies) we needed to buy a new hoover, one hoover we saw was giving away 2 free flights to the USA - Florida or New York. We couldn't believe it and thought that there must be a catch! No catch we chose to go to New York for Christmas.

On getting on the plane, my husband said he wasn't feeling very well, I said have some Peptobismo (I'm not sure how to spell that!!!!)

Bad Bad mistake, he filled up 2 sick bags just as we were taking off!!! Poor devil. They did give him his own toilet though for the whole journey. Anyway we got to New York and slept off the sickness for a couple of days but we had a fantastic time, we went to cape may which was brilliant and stayed in a lovely questhouse that had been moved from one part of the town to the other.

A lovely lovely holiday, on christmas day we went to the movies and had a lunch at Burger King!!!!!

oh gosh the biggest holiday nightmare happened last year...
somehow i got it in my head i had santa already done for my little girl then 2 1/2 and not my litle boy then 4 1/2. So i am stocking up on santa stuff for my little boy...and i am storing it way in the attic...xmas eve at 2:00 in the morning (OY!) my hubby pulls everything down starts putting it all together taking it out of boxes and calls me into the garage...his exact word were "houston we have a seriously big, huge, gigantic problemo" of course i am grouchy cause i am tired and i snap back what..he tell me to come here he has it all displayed like he will have it under the tree and mason has a bazillion things and melana has 5....yes 5....so needless to say at 2:00 in the morning on xmas eve i was beside myself freaking out, saying a few choice words, he is killing himself laughing wanting to kow how i did that...so this year i made sure not to do that...i bought him something and bought her something at the same time instead of buying for one and then the other....oh lord that was a nightmare i do not care to re-live!!

I am one of those crazy ladies that gets up at the butt-crack of dawn on the day after Thanksgiving to go shopping. My mom, who is now 69 years old always goes with me and tends to slow me down, but I try not to let it get to me. Anyways, about 5 years ago, Shopko was giving away free teddy bears to the first 500 people. As we ran into the store I could see the lady handing them out...she gave the last teddy bear to the lady in front of me!!! She said that there was another person handing them out on the other side of the store, so I ran all the way over there and the lady there handed out her last teddy bear to the person in front of me again!! No teddy bears that Christmas..but lots of exercise!!

My worst shopping day was back in the late 80's , my dad , my oldest son who is now 26 left my parents house to go shopping the day before Christmas , just as we were going thru the first traffic light after leaving the house a pickup turned right in front of us causing an accident it did not total the car but did cause damage to both my dads knee and my right ankle . He had to have surgery on his knee several months later , and I had to have a ligament reconstructed in my ankle about a year and a half later due to this accident . We did get our shopping done that day but I will never forget that day as I still suffer from extreme pain in that ankle .

I dont have a funny story but I observed a horror story back in the early 80's with the Cabbage Patch frenzy. I can still see the moms and dads beating each other and kids getting hurt and packages flying all over the toy area at Sears. I had my name on a waiting list for whatever doll they handed me-she was a little black baby names Esther and I still have her (I felt bad taking a black baby away from a black family but we had to take the one we were given-but I love her to bits) Apparelty word got out that Sears had a truck load and hundreds of people showed up and the insanity began. It was about then that the whole Christmas thing went down the tubes for me and I started to withdraw from the maniac season. I now donate all the money I would have spent to local charities. And I look forward to spring.

My biggest holiday nightmare was a few weeks ago trying to hide "santa" gifts while shopping with 2 of my 3 boys in tow. I had a video in the cart, under a ton of stuff, and thought I had hidden it well enough. Well, with 2 curious boys in the cart with everything, they uncovered it, got very excited, and decided we were going to watch it when we got home. I ended up putting it back on a shelf, then picking up something nearby, with the DVD too. They never realized I picked it up again, and I have somethign they know nothign about for Christmas! I think next year I'm going to do ALL my shopping online!!!

hmmm.. i usually avoid holiday shopping madness like a plague, so i don't really have any stories. but i do remember having to wait in line for hours just to purchase one tiny little item... and wondering "why???"

thanks for the chance to win! :)

My silliest shopping experience was this year in fact. I went with two girlfriends and I guess we were feeling giddy. We were commenting on all the displays and there was one in particular where the women "dummies" had their hips jutted out so much so that we thought it was impossible. So we were walking down an empty aisle (we thought) and we began walking swaying our hips as far as they would go... thinking no-one was behind us. Then we turned around to see this man directly walking behind us - and the worst was HE WAS INCREDIBLY HANDSOME! We said sorry... and he had a grin on his face and said, "nothing to say sorry for!" We must have laughed for an hour!

I don't have any holiday horrer shopping stories, but my husband told me that when he worked for a store (years ago) He saw a bunch of ladies literally get into a fight over a power ranger doll. Purses flying, punches thrown and everything. I hope I would never get that desperate over a toy. I bet it was a riot to watch though. lol!

I don't remember what year it was - but this was before I quit doing the Black Friday thing altogether! I was at the mall waiting on a certain store to open (along with probably a hundred other people). When the gate over the doorway started to rise, two women actually got down on their hands & knees & crawled under to get into the store! This was the year I stood in line all over town & never accomplished much - what all those women were fighting over, I'll never know! I didn't see anything that would be worth it! I arrived back home, sore, irritable & vowing "never again"!

Congratulations !!!!! I don't have any crazy story about holiday shopping, but here maybe something to say. I am from Peru and I married and American Guy (wonderful man), so since we are together every Christmas is kind of a nightmare for me because anything I would like to buy for him, he always says, not it is too small or too big, or too expensive.
Well, one year I didn't know what to buy sooooo I say , he needs shoes, so I bought them, he needs socks, and I did too, and pants, sweaters, t-shirts and so on, He was very impressed when he saw tons of boxes and packages, LOL,that was kind of funny. Anywa, that year I wanted a nice pair of boots, and he bought them for me, BUT I was pregnant and my whole body was HUGE and the nice boots didn't fit me (OH POOR ME)so I had to exchange for something else more comfortable for a pregnant woman (that what he said :(

Thanks for the chance on the SU candy, and Merry Christmas!!!

Congrats on all the hits Sarah!! Thanks for sharing all your amazing creations and for inspiring me! (You really should submit some of your cards for publication!!) Keep up the great work! (I don't know how you find the time with three little ones!)
My biggest nightmare story isn't really about holiday shopping. I actually love shopping for those "special" gifts for family & friends...it gives me a lot of joy!
But there are crazy people out there all year 'round! I was shopping in a city (about an hour away from where we live)...when this guy stalked me and tried to hit on me for 7 hours!! I didn't get half of my shopping done because I was so "on edge", and felt completely violated...and I was an emotional wreck by the time I got home! I was (hysterically) sobbing and telling my hubby about this experience (and reported it to the police)...and was so paranoid that the stalker knew our vehicle and license plate number. Well, several weeks later my dh sold that vehicle and bought me a new one!! I still love shopping...thanks for a chance to win this SU shopping spree!!

I LOOOVE to shop on Black Friday -- my mom, sister and I (and now my oldest niece joins us too) hit the shops at 5am and shop 'til we drop. I've never had any horror stories, but a couple of years ago I got stuck behind a shopping protester. She was pushing an empty cart through WalMart at 6 am at a snail's pace, trying to muck up progress. I was wishing I could just run right over her! (not her personally, just her cart.)

I do have a night, are story. It happened this year as hubby and I got up on Black Fri. to go early to Toys R Us. We both hate that store, but they had a great deal on an MP3 Player and we needed 3 of them this year as we had decided to get just those for our kids. They are grown up now and hard to buy for. We had stood in line for a long time (2 hours I think it was) when news drifted down that they only had 5 of those in the store and the first 5 people in line already had their coupons for them. We were about 25 people down the line and I was very frustrated! I felt sorrier for the 6th person in line though! Black Friday is for the birds. hehehe
Hope I win your shopping spree. That would be a great Christmas present for Moi!

CONGRATS on the 10K hits!! WOO HOO for you!

Okay, so one year I had to go to JoAnn fabrics to get some sort of doo-dad for an emergency project that I needed that day for a gift, and it was the weekend after Thanksgiving (need I go on?), well, I stood in line with people behind me in their jammies, arguing loudly with each other and their teenage daughter about scarves, and then some random and VERY smelly person walked up and stood there watching and I nearly vomited from the smell. All this and I got to literally stand in line for an hour and a half. They had two ladies doing checkout and the line was weaving throughout this store. It was a nightmare, and I was reminded why I don't ever shop on Black Friday or Black Weekend for that matter. YUK!!

PS - I'm celebrating 10K with candy too! Check me out and enter to win yourself!!

My story is downright silly! I woke up at 4 to be at Target by 5. My son HAD to have this Star Wars Lego set. Well... I get there 2 minutes after the store opens, run to the Lego aisle and big, black hole where the Lego set should be! UUUUGGGHHH! I see a lady with it in her cart and I say, I'll give you $10 bucks if you let me have that! It's the only thing my son really, really wants! She looks at me with this terrible expression and said, I DON'T think so! Hey, you have to try... right? Well, I am looking around for other things on my list, turn a corner and there.. in a stack several rows tall is the Lego set. It was put on an end cap because they knew it would be popular. Man, that woman could have had it good if she was smart! She could have had the set and $10 in her pocket!! Funny what Black Friday does to us!!

Have a wonderful time celebrating the Happiest Holiday of the year with your husband and 3 beautiful little ones. Nancy

I guess one of my best shopping stories would include my ex. We went to the mall - he went one way, and I went the other. As I was in deep thought as to what presents needed to be bought yet, someone ran up behind me and pinched me in the rear! I swung around, fist up and bam! Made contact.......with my husband's chin! He learned very quickly that in today's world, you DO NOT sneak up on anyone and get cute!

I was so lucky in 1983 when the Cabbage Patch kids hit the shelves. I saw them at Toys R Us in Sept. when the first batch came in & I loved them myself & immediately decided that my 4 year old daughter needed one. I liked the one with a pacifier that had on a pink knit dress with hearts, that was almost identical to a dress my daughter owned. She even had a cute name...Amy Sue. If I knew then the pandemonia these dolls created, I'd have bought every doll they had & be a rich woman today:) The following year, they came out with the preemies & of course my daughter decided Amy Sue needed a baby sister. So I found out what it felt like to be in the center of a swarm of angry, grabby, nasty people all fighting over a doll. Sheesh - it was then & there that I realized that Christmas was losing all it's meaning & decided I didn't want any part of it. I crawled my way out of the hive of hornets and went to the Christian Bookstore & bought my daughter a Precious Moments Bible instead. She loved her bible:)
