WOW! Your blog candy impresses me just as much as your creativity :-) As for books, I love anything Dr. Seuss (we have 10 out from the library right now), and of course Silverstein's books like The Giving Tree and one I had never heard of before until about three months ago is called When You're Not Looking by Lynne Chapman (the kids love this, and I love to hear their giggles!)

Our favorite story is "Llama Llama Red Pajama" because there is a line where baby llama yells for his momma and momma runs in saying "please stop all this llama drama and be patient.." My daughter thought this was hilarious the first time we read it together and every time since. Otherwise, we like the "If you give a Mouse/Pig/Moose a Cookie/Pancake/Muffin books. Love your take on the Seuss fish!!!

I'm now a granny of 5 wonderful grandchildren, 4 of which are teen-agers, BUT, when my kids were young my favorite book was "The Little Engine That Could". The book is used to teach children the value of optimism. In the tale, a long train must be pulled over a high mountain. Various larger engines are asked to pull the train; for various reasons they refuse. The request is sent to a small engine, who agrees to try. The engine succeeds in pulling the train over the mountain while repeating its motto: "I think I can, I think I can".
Thank you for allowing me memories of when my children were young. I don't have a train set of stamps, but I will say that, every time I sit down to create a card, I have to tell myself 'I think I can'.....and I usually do, although they aren't always winners, I'm proud of every one of them!
Thanks!

Someone just said my favorite "The Little Engine That Could" but for a child around 2nd - 3rd grade my mom would read to us at night and I loved the book "Mr. Popper's Penguins" by Richard Atwater. This is a good age for The Boxcar Children books too.

One of my daughter's favorite books is "The Legend of the Three Trees" - from the screenplay by george Taweel and Rob Loose. This particular book has text and illustrations from Tommy Nelson with story adapted by Catherine McCafferty, about three trees and what they dreamed about becoming - and what they did become. It's a great story and she picks it quite often for our bedtime story.

Awesome candy! Well, there are various favorites in my house, but right now it's Green Eggs and Ham. I know, original, but it's one that all three of them love! Love your cards!

WOW! What a great blog candy ... yummy!! Thanks for the chance to win.
I don't have kids yet, but my favorite children books are Shel Silverstein's books, especially The Giving Tree and A Light in the Attic. I haven't used any of these books as inspirations for card making, but sounds like a good idea, I've to give it a try.

My mouth is watering looking at all that blog candy! My favorite kids book right now is "You read to me, I'll read to you". My oldest is 4.5 right now and is already reading quite well. The parent reads what's on the left side and the child reads what's on the right. There are parts where you both read together. My daughter really likes that part. I don't have a card inspired by the book, but yours is just gorgeous!

Congrats on your blogversary!

First of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! :D

Oh my! I basically ONLY read children's books because I teach 2nd grade! Haha. I read one about every day! I love my job though. I don't think you could have asked a harder question. That's so tough. If I had to choose one favorite children's book I would have to say "A Bad Case of Stripes" by David Shannon. It is HILARIOUS and the pictures are just great. If you haven't read it...DO SO! My kids love it. I even had a girl memorize it! She loved it that much.

Anyway, thanks so much for sharing all of these great gifts on YOUR birthday! You are great! :D

Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday to you, Happy Birthday dear Sarah, Happy Birthday to you. You don't know how lucky you are that you didn't here that in person. As so many of you readers, I too loved "love you forever", but as my oldest started to read, we discovered the Magic Tree house Series. I credit this series in creating two book-o-holics, for it was easy to trick them to continue reading to find out what was going to happen next.
